RED zone updates!
The most significant impact to our teams is:
- The maximum number of participants permitted per rink is 10 (plus 1 coach and 1 trainer as of Nov 27).
- Training activities only – no game play or scrimmages.
- No spectators!
- No use of change rooms.
- Enter 10min before start of your ice time.
Dear Hornets families,
I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you back on the ice and remind all of us that we are skating during a pandemic! The Hornets board has worked hard with the Town of Oakville, public health and our governing body, the OWHA, to get the girls back on the ice and we will continue to do so to keep them active as long as possible.
We understand how important hockey is to your families from both a physical/mental health and social perspective.
We appreciate the considerations that have gone into the decision for all of our families, especially those with vulnerable family members.
We thank you for your understanding of the challenges of running a season in the middle of a pandemic.
Today, I must ask you to help us to keep the girls on the ice as long as possible! Physical distancing, proper mask wearing and frequent hand washing remain the basics to protect everyone we come in contact with. Beyond that we must follow agreed modified hockey protocols and arena protocols for the rinks we are using. Failure to do so endangers our ability to continue our programming not just for your daughter, not just for her team, but for all the girls in the association. We will be forced to exclude families / teams from our programming if they are found violating these protocols.
Please review this document for Joshua’s Creek Arenas (as most of our ice is there this season) and lead by example. We cannot expect our girls to physically distance if parents are shoulder to shoulder. We cannot expect coaches, team managers or trainers to own the responsibility. We all need to show our support of these protocols through our actions.
