Organization - Hockey on pause during the provincial shutdown
Submitted By Hornets on Tuesday, December 22, 2020
Given yesterday’s shutdown announcement from the Government of Ontario, we must once again pause our hockey operations for both House League and Rep until January 2021.

Details of the shutdown can be found here:

The Hornets remain committed to getting back on the ice and will continue to prepare and finalize adapted programming with the Town of Oakville, like including the possibility of extending the season past March 31st. As we continue to work towards resuming our hockey operations as soon as possible, our central focus will remain on the health and safety of our members, volunteers and their families.

We know this is a difficult time for your family. We believe in the benefits hockey provides our girls both mentally and physically. We will remain committed to offering a playing format that will keep them safe, having fun and developing their skills. Until we are allowed to return to the ice, we would like to encourage you to help them remain positive and encourage physical activity – you may want to consider looking into some of the opportunities listed below. Please share pictures of your own ideas and fun experiences with us – whether they be on an outdoor rink or off the ice – and we will share them with our membership through our social media channels.

House League families, the planned credit card charge for the winter term on January 9th will be deferred until we can confirm next steps for the program. Your card will not be charged on January 9th. Your 5 week credit from the fall term will be evaluated closer to January 23, 2021 when we expect the government will provide direction on the removal or extension of the shutdown.

For both House League and Rep families, scheduled ice times up until the planned end of the shutdown (January 23rd) will be cancelled and automatically removed from your TeamSnap calendars.

Thank you for your continued patience during this time. We look forward to the New Year, and to returning to the ice with you on as soon as possible.

We wish you and your families the best during this holiday season! Stay safe.
