Hornets Hold on to Clean Record
Oakville Sr AA played Ancaster on the road and despite a flawed performance, were able to come away with the win Friday night.
The Hornets got off to a slow start with limited offensive chances in a scoreless first period. With an adjusted game plan and more tenacious forechecking, Oakville took control of the game in the middle frame, building a four goal lead with goals by Giova Cascioli (5) , Evelyn McLean (3), Katelyn Turk (4) and Laura Gelowitz (2).
In the third period a lapse into some give aways and less aggressive forechecking led to a pair of goals by the Avalanche but the Hornets were able to come out with the 4-2 win. The team knows they will need a much stronger effort this week on the road against also undefeated St. Catharines.
