Stellar Goaltending in Game Three
The Sr AA Hornets brought their defensive game with them on the road in Kitchener this week.
Oakville hit the ice in Kitchener and got things rolling early with a goal by Julia Giannitsopoulos (2) that stood up until veteran Stacey McConnell got her first of the season with an accurate shot just inside the far post off a rush.
In the second frame the home Rangers dominated play and hemmed in the Hornets, outshooting them 16-4 for the period. The Hornets regained their composure in the third with shots more balanced. Goalie Karen Collins frustrated Kitchener time and again turning away 36 shots for her first shut out of the season and garnering a well deserved game MVP from her teammates. Hornets are back home November 14, 7:30pm to host undefeated McMaster University.
